bonkers

I don't know about anyone else but I am f-f-freezing. The snow came down in droves this morning with little warning and it took us two hours to drive what is normally a 10 minute journey. These two are ok though, bless them. We've done nothing since they joined our little clan, they are far too entertaining to do anything else.

But I did stumble across this though the other day, which definitely needs checking out. A whole new way of crafting for the feline mad, purr-haps?

I had a quick google, only to find there are a lot of people out there using animal hair for felting purposes. But I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks this is completely bonkers?

  1. Well if you saw the ammount of hair I get from Bambi when I brush her you might think it worth a try to waste not want not although I have to say I usually put it in the compost bin and reuse it that way! Love those cute little mice though so maybe I will save some and see if it does felt though I fear it might be too smmoth. I can see why you might spend a lot of time watching those two - we used to say it was better than going to the pictures when our two were little! Enjoy your Christmas with them - they will love all the string and balled up paper and hopefully leave the tree alone!

  2. Not a brilliant idea if you ask me. They look so cute! You can keep the snow down there for a while if you don't mind - weve had quite enough - the last lot has still not gone! It is so very bitterly cold here too and poor hubby has just gone to work an evening shift - outside too! Luckily, being peri menopausal, I dont mind him being freezing cold when he climbs in bed at 4am, and he is glad of the "hot woman" in his bed. xxx

  3. Well, it does seem less ridiculous than knitting a jumper out of dog hair!

  4. Apparently you can get the your dog's hair washed and spun so you can knit with it...not sure I really fancy wearing Walter, much as I love him!

  5. Don't think I would do it myself, but then, each to their own. I do love the photos of the cats though, they look so cosy and so snugly together.

  6. It is probably only the idea of the cat on the cover playing with mice made of her own hair that seems a bit weird to me. I don't see anything weird about making other things though. We have three dogs at our house at the moment...I think that's completely bonkers! Three cats...mmmm...just thinking...

  9. We have friends in Ilford, and we've been getting reports of the weather. I keep hoping just a smidgen of the stuff would fall on us instead of the constant sleety junk.

As for felting the sheds from The Buddha Cat, I am not particularly inclined but, I have known a few who have dabbled in cat and dog fibre creation. They were bonkers...even before the fur weaving.

The little felted creature in the foreground has zombie eyes - just sayin'.

  10. Hi Kate, I have just nominated you for a 'Stylish Blogger Award' as you have a beautiful site here. Please pop over to my site, before or after Christmas to find out how to accept it. See you!

  11. The mice and your kittens are very cute. My first thought about using pet hair is 'eugh!' but I can see the logic when I think a bit further. I'll be interested to see if you take if further! We've got a long haired guinea pig with the most beautiful grey/black fur and enough hair to carpet the house so, in theory, I could pursue this too, but somehow I don't think I will. Stay warm. T xl.

  12. It seems a strange idea Kate but I suppose it's another form of recycling really!

The photo of your two snuggling up together is really sweet. Enjoy their kittenhood, it goes by oh so quickly.

We've had a lull in the weather up here for the past couple of days and its not nearly as cold as it was. I would like some snow for Christmas though ....!
