So I've been having a relaxing morning, getting reacquainted with my sewing machine, whilst the smell of steeping elderflowers, brought back from the countryside, pervades the house.
When I found a piece of vintage barkcloth featuring sailing boats and islands I couldn't believe my luck but because the fabric has several different vignettes in the pattern, it's not an easy one to cut into. Trying to get a good square whilst saving other pieces for more projects makes it quite a challenge.
I made a cushion and backed it with my usual antique linen which will be perfect for a room by the sea. All of a sudden I'm there again.
Did you have a lovely week?
It's lovely - I so adore fabric with boats on.
ReplyDeleteHalf term is still going on for us here today, but tomorrow I will be a very happy mummy. Hard work....to say the least!

Still one child home, but back tomorrow. Lovely half term, though not in the least relaxing due to babies of all kinds! x
ReplyDeleteI just love that fabric - I don't think I would dare to cut it at all!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that boat fabric - what a fantastic find! The cushion you made with it is really lovely. It's always a dilemma cutting into a big print and trying to preserve all the different parts of it! I'll keep looking and hoping I find one as nice as this!

Absolutely gorgeous cushion, as you say, perfect for a room by the sea. Mine both went back to school today, I had a lovely half term with them but it's been bliss getting back to my sewing again! x

I love that fabric, it looks absoultely perfect. I have seen a skirt with a pretty sailing boat design which has been tempting me to be naughty. Perhaps if I can't have a cushion.....
