henslowe

Thank you for all your sewing love .. and, of course, for admiring the yarny work in progress too. Well, this is it folks, this is what was on my needles .. Henslowe.

We don't know too many people yet in Vancouver but we went along to a barbeque yesterday where one of the other guests happened to be a lady who works at my local yarn shop. Can you imagine how much fun that was? Of course there was a lot of woolly waffle and, in fact, one of the topics was the colourways of Madelinetosh. I knit Henslowe in Madelinetosh Merino Light, in the aptly named sugar plum which is such a lovely, sweet, gentle shade. Doesn't 'sugar plum' conjure up the prettiest of images?

I have taken to having two projects on the go these days, one that needs full concentration, another is more of a no brainer. Many a time mistakes made late in the evening have resulted in my having to unpick more rows than I had managed to achieve. Henslowe was a perfect choice for my no brainer, as the initial part was pure garter stitch. The real interest began at the second section, by which time it was proving hard to put down and I must say, I love my Henslowe. I really do! Interestingly enough the weather has taken a bit of a turn for the worse lately, certainly shawl weather, so I'm taking it as a sign to knit one more. As ever, there are more pics and details here on Ravelry.

Have a great week, everyone. What plans have you?

  7. Beautiful Henslowe! This has been in my queue for a while. It looks gorgeous in Sugar Plum - & yes, that is the perfect name.

I must admit I'm a bit jealous of your shawl weather, definitely feeling the summer heat where I live!

  11. How beautiful Kate, yes the sugar plum fairy is a perfect name for this yarn. My confidence is growing with knitting and 4 ply yarn is not feeling as scary as it used to.
How lovely to find someone to waffle on about wool with, I like to think that there is always a friend in someone who works in a wool shop xox Penny

  15. Oh, that's beautiful!

It's a pattern I keep meaning to try but I just don't seem to have enough time for knitting lately, or rather all my knitting time is going into one big, date critical, project.

I find getting hold of Madelinetosh in the colours I want almost impossible ... Loop in London really should stock more of the stuff!
