Oh dear, poor you Kate. I remember the first time Alice gave me this very same present it horrified me because I had never had them in my childhood and to get them in my mid-30's freaked me out :o) it didn't take long for me to get used to how to deal with them! I'm busy thinking about stocking fillers and finishing off a few of my home made gifts before wrapping this weekend. I would LOVE a white Christmas and shall think of you having fun in the white stuff. Keep cosy and hope you are free of the little critters soon xox Penelope
Oh no! Thank goodness those days are over for me (hopefully, because I never say never when it comes to nits!) My father-in-law lives in Quebec, he sent me some very similar pics to yours yesterday. Beautiful. It's going to be 40 degrees c here on Christmas Day. Lovely (I say that tongue firmly planted in cheek)
Oh my friend...I was driving in it today...what a scare. I had to drive to the airport and the roads were beyond dangerous. I think I have aged 10 years today! It is so pretty if you can stay home and enjoy. xoxoxoxo
That's a lotta snow! I think that you would have preferred 'knits' to 'nits' somehow..hehe! I hope there are real goodies for you under the Christmas tree this year. Wishing you all a very bright and merry Christmas and plenty of love to keep you warm!
Oh I am so so sorry, we went through that in October. I took my girls to a special salon to get rid of them, highly recommend it, combed out every single strand, sigh.... Your winter photos are lovely, it will be a green Christmas in Toronto.
Tricky little beggars to wrap......I shouldn't laugh I know what a pain they are, but it was the last thing I was expecting to read!! Beautiful photos, I particularly like the last one....Wouldn't mind some of your snow over the weekend, we're heading towards 39 deg. eek!!
I was just about to say 'Oh Kate you live in a Christmas card', until I read about the nits!!!! :) Seriously though, amazing photos and you can always get lotion for the nits! ;) V xxx
Oh Kate, I feel for you! What a crummy 'present'. My niece gave them to me one year, and it was a bit of a nightmare. I became a tea tree oil freak and added it to everything (shampoo, sprayed beds with it, etc). I hope they clear up quickly for you:)
Oh noooo...hope that gift is soon dispensed with!! And thank you for those wonderful photos. They are beautiful and I do love to see lots of snow in winter, even if it's not happening here! Wishing you and your family a very Happy Christmas. Helen x
What a delightful present - not! I wonder if she brought them across the Atlantic or are they Canadian nits? Wishing you a happy (and itch-free) Christmas.
Ooh Kate, I caught them too, twice with my children and I have tight curly hair! Nightmare!!! Sending you love and light and wishing you and yours a 'Joyful Noel'.... I am busy working in the little gift shop where I spend my hours! Boy is it busy!! Love Maria x
I cannot help but wish I could be sharing all this beauty with you!
Nits? If you can bear some advice from me (my eldest daughter was for ever getting nits until her tenth birthday which is weird as my son has never had them) I would suggest you wash your hair normally, slap loads of conditioner on and comb and comb and comb your hair with a tissue at hand to bin the culprits. Do this every day for five days and I guarantee you will get rid of them. The lotions never seemed to work for us but that's my personal opinion. Lavander oil also works behind the ears helps deter future nits!
Perhaps you can get your daughter to comb your hair as penance? ;-)
Those little buggers can sure spoil the Holiday celebrations can't they? A little tea tree oil can deter them in the future. Amidst the chaos I'd like to wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas... Susan x
wow, you've had lots of snow - it looks so pretty. Bad luck about your early Christmas pressie - children are so thoughtful aren't they ;) All the best for a very merry Christmas and a happy nit-free new year x
say it isnt so! we got nits for christmas one year, and it led to LOTS of family time with me picking every last one out every night for 3 weeks. merry christmas despite it all.
There's nothing like a comment to stop me feeling like I'm talking to myself. If you leave one here I'll pop one back here too, so don't forget to come back and continue the conversation ..
Oh you poor thing. You did make me laugh though.
ReplyDeleteCanadian nits - are they bigger than British ones? Looks very pretty indeed. Enjoy the shopping x
ReplyDeleteOh no - I guess even in colder climates no one is immune from those nasty nits.
ReplyDeleteBig sigh on the snow front - I'd love snow for Christmas....just once - while I'm still young enough to act like a big kid and enjoy it.
Take care and if I don't speak to you before hand - have a super fab time and 'Merry Christmas'
Nina x
Great photos, charming 'present'!
